New York Fans Cause Student to Get Thrown from Stadium and Lose His Job?!

Citi Field Asks Its First Phillies Fan to Leave | NBC Philadelphia .

So you’ve got an honest college student, working a TV camera for his school at Citi Field. It’s a rainy day, so he’s told to wear a rain jacket. His jacket happened to be a Phillies jacket… suddenly the Mets fans can’t possibly handle that… and this poor chap is not only forced from the field, but is told he can leave his job behind too.

First of all, if I was a lawyer, I’d get all over this like white on rice. In what world does a guy get fired for wearing a jacket?!?! This is a regular jacket, that can be bought anywhere…. regardless of the fact that it’s a Phillies jacket!

And secondly, I want to draw attention and criticism to the flat out negativity and hostility of the Mets fan and New York mentality that brought about this entire unfortunate situation. As a Philadelphia fan, we are constantly reminded and chided gleefully by the media about our roughness and hostility. We are known as snowball throwers, and boo-ers. We are known for causing fights, and threatening opposing fans and players…. ok, that might be true to certain extents… But here we have the worst type of fan bigotry. This kid lost his job, over sports fanhood. I mean seriously?! Are we going to revert to Phillies fan only fountains next? Are Phillies fans going to have to sit at the back of the public buses soon?

New Yorkers should be ashamed of themselves. And this guy, Reed Frazier, is as much of a hero as any… when asked to choose between his jacket or his job… he chose his job. Maybe that’s not the most economically intelligent thing to do. But he’s still got the most valuable thing, his pride and integrity.
